1963 His Majesty the late King Hussein issues the Royal Decree establishing Jordan's national carrier, Alia, with a fleet of two Handley Page Dart Heralds and one Super DC-7, inaugurating flights to Lebanon, Egypt, and Kuwait. 1964 In January, a second DC-7 is purchased and Amman/Jeddah service initiated. 1965 Alia purchases three Caravelle 10-R aircraft and the first service to Europe is inaugurated with a weekly flight to Rome.
