Eurocypria AirlinesDescription: Eurocypria Airlines, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Cyprus Airways, began operations in 1992 with two brand new Airbus A320 aircraft, equipped with state-of-the-art technology and each seating 174 people in comfort. Flying the latest aircraft with staff committed to offering the best service possible, Cyprus' first charter airline was established with very clear guidelines. First and foremost was a determination to be recognised as the best charter airline in Europe. In order to achieve this, Eurocypria realised that it had to offer high quality service, impeccable reliability and value for money. Another major part of Eurocypria's original vision was to make Cyprus more accessible to those European regions without direct flights to the island, a policy which continues today. With the ability to operate out of almost any airport in Europe, Eurocypria now flies from over 50 separate destinations in 14 countries - compared with 15 destinations and 6 countries back in 1992. Its experience as a successful charter carrier has also allowed Eurocypria to branch out into other fields, including scheduled flights and tailor-made services for individual bookings. After beginning operations in 1992 with two brand new Airbus A320 aircraft, Eurocypria added a third A320 to the fleet in April 1993 and a fourth in March 2001. Since the inaugural flight between Larnaka and Birmingham on the 25th March 1992, Eurocypria has gone from strength to strength. Carrying a total of 195,650 passengers on 675 return flights in 1992, the growth has been constant. 2003 saw the company fly 1,655 return flights and carry 500,000 passengers. Eurocypria's original commitment to reliability and punctuality has also been upheld - with outstanding results. No one likes airport delays, and in successive reports compiled by the Air Transport Users Council, Eurocypria ranks among the top European charter airlines for punctuality. In 2000, Eurocypria came top of the list. General Manager of Eurocypria, George Souroullas, attributes the airline's first successful decade to many things, but largely to the enthusiasm and professionalism of the company's employees: "When we commenced operations, we had a vision of becoming the best charter airline in Europe. A vision is usually something almost unattainable, which is why it's a vision. But our early successes were a result of this philosophy, coupled with the enthusiasm and excitement of a young team. As the years passed, our staff became more experienced, but we have all retained that spirit of enthusiasm from the early days." Highly-trained and multi-lingual, Eurocypria's crew have earned praise from travellers all over Europe for their courteous and caring service onboard. Staff are committed to creating a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere, remaining highly professional at all times. Eurocypria has also become known for its charitable work. The Charity Committee of Cabin Crew not only organises events to benefit local charities, it also arranges pleasure flights across the island for local children's groups and organisations. Keeping up to date with the very latest in technology, 2003 has seen Eurocypria completely renew its fleet with new livery and aircraft. Between February and April 2003, Eurocypria replaced its Airbus fleet with brand new Boeing 737-800w aircraft. Capable of flying up to 2,905 nautical miles (5,380kilometres), each of the new Boeing aircraft will offer 189 leather seats and the very latest in-flight entertainment systems to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable flight. The decision to switch from Airbus to Boeing was taken with careful consideration of the requirements of a successful European charter airline and, according to the General Manager, the Boeing 737-800 was the "ideal choice". Eurocypria faces the future with confidence and pride. With its continued effort to provide punctual and economical air travel of superior quality to passengers from all over Europe, Eurocypria is looking forward to an even more successful future.
